Dr. Joni Cazeau
Introducing Dr. Joni Cazeau, who will speak at the next TEDxAmoskeagMillyard event on October 10, 2024, at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, NH.
What's your favorite TED or TEDx Talk, and why?
Though it may sound cliche, my favorite Ted Talk is “Do Schools Kill Creativity?” by Sir Ken Robinson. Interestingly enough, until I went back to find out the title and the speaker’s name (in order to answer this question), the only things I remembered about this talk was that the speaker utilized humor expertly throughout his talk to keep the listener engaged. Months after the talk, I remembered he spoke about childhood education. I did not recall one single fact he shared, but I remembered he told a random joke and said it had nothing to do with his talk, he just wanted to tell a joke. I also remembered he told a story about his wife. I retained no other details, but loved the delivery of the talk. I love this talk because it was just fun.
What people or events have inspired you professionally?
Both of my grandmothers inspired me to become a physician. They were both diagnosed with cancer at about the same time. I was about 5 years old. I watched the difference in their outcomes based on their access to medical care. I made the decision right then to become a physician.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Love. I would increase the love we have for each other.
How did you feel when you learned you had been chosen as a speaker for TEDxAM24?
I felt disbelief, shock, gratefulness, excitement, and humbled. I actually thought the initial email was going to be a phishing attempt! I am sooo glad it was not.
What do you most want TEDxAM24 attendees to know about you?
I am just so grateful and blessed to be speaking with this awesome group of speakers this year!
