Introducing Cordan Haveron, who will speak at the next TEDxAmoskeagMillyard event on October 10, 2024, at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, NH.
What's your favorite TED or TEDx Talk, and why?
One of my favorite TEDx talks is by Jelan Agnew, where she speaks about Black Folk Mental Health: Generational Trauma, Traditions & Truth. I appreciate its powerful message on embracing challenges, finding strength in vulnerability, tradition, and seeing adversity as a path to personal growth and resilience.
What people or events have inspired you professionally?
I want to express my gratitude to the mothers, fathers, nurses, doctors, case workers, professors, and clients who have supported me at various points in my life. I wouldn’t be here without your invaluable support.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
I would strengthen family ties, believing strong families create resilient communities. One thing for certain, two things for sure is that Comeback Kids Come Back Stronger.
How did you feel when you learned you had been chosen as a speaker for TEDxAM24?
In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, I made the courageous decision to use my savings to transition from my government job in defense contracts and embark on a new career path. I'm now focused on inspiring others as a motivational speaker, guiding and supporting young people and families, and contributing to workforce development with a moving company. Being nominated to share my family's legacy is truly an honor for me and confirms that I am following the right path. I am facing unprecedented challenges, but I firmly believe that my work will speak for itself – I don't seek fame or the spotlight. My passion lies in being on the frontline, providing support to those affected by trauma, and working towards healing.
What do you most want TEDxAM24 attendees to know about you?
One crucial aspect to know about me is that I am wholeheartedly dedicated to empowering individuals and families through mentorship. Drawing from my personal journey as a Transracial Adoptee, Army Veteran, and Father of three, I am committed to guiding others in triumphing over challenges, fostering resilience, and instigating lasting positive change in their lives and communities. This one is for you, Kids!
